Fundamentals of a Healthy Scalp

The scalp is a complex cutaneous structure that directly conditions the quality and life cycle of the hair.
Its proper management in cosmetics requires addressing five key aspects: microbiome, exfoliation, hydration, protection and personalisation according to scalp type.

Scalp Microbiome and Exfoliation

The scalp hosts a diverse community of microorganisms that form its microbiome. An imbalance in this flora can cause dandruff, itching or chronic inflammation.
Regular exfoliation removes dead cells and excess sebum, creating a favourable environment for hair growth.

Scalp care has moved from being a dermatological necessity to the centre of modern haircare. The scalp-first trend, driven by awareness of the skin microbiome and the popularisation of scalp massage as a care ritual, is redefining the hair market. Formulators are looking for actives that work on the scalp ecosystem in a holistic way: microbiome, barrier, hydration and circulation.

Why is scalp care the haircare revolution of 2026?

Cobiosa Actives for the Scalp

Cobiosa has a range of active ingredients designed to address the five fundamental aspects of the scalp: microbiome balance, exfoliation, hydration, protection and adaptation to scalp type.
Each active has a defined technical profile and recommended usage doses in formulation.

COBIOBALANCE and COBIO AHA V2

COBIOBALANCE regulates skin pH and balances cutaneous microbiota, strengthening the scalp's natural defences. It is used at 5% in exfoliating lotions and up to 10% in protective sprays.
COBIO AHA V2 acts as a gentle exfoliant, hydrating and renewing surface cells of the scalp at a dose of 5%.

COBIOPURE, COBIOPHYTONIC GL and RADIANCYL

COBIOPURE exerts a detox effect that protects against environmental stress and inflammatory ageing, with a usage dose of 3% in spray.
COBIOPHYTONIC GL, a botanical active with plant extracts and bioflavonoids, stimulates scalp microcirculation at 5%. RADIANCYL, derived from Maca, provides nutrients that stimulate hair growth.

Reference Formulations for Formulators

Cobiosa has developed three reference formulations for the hair segment that illustrate how to combine its actives in products ready to be adapted by the formulator.
Each one addresses a specific scalp need and can serve as a starting point for the development of new references.

Exfoliating Lotion and Nocturnal Hair Serum

The SOS exfoliating lotion (PROT.302/22) combines COBIO AHA V2 and COBIOBALANCE to gently exfoliate, hydrate and balance the scalp pH in a single application.
The nocturnal hair serum (GF.5724-24) integrates COBIOPHYTONIC GL and RADIANCYL for deep revitalisation during rest, stimulating microcirculation and hair growth.

Protective Spray and CTA for Formulators

The protective spray (GF.37323-24) combines COBIOPURE and COBIOBALANCE in a convenient application format, offering protection against environmental stress and microbiota balance.
