ACA method the routine that transforms the scalp
The ACA method redefines the hair washing routine with a conditioner-shampoo-conditioner sequence that protects the fibre before cleansing it.
Cobiosa has developed three reference formulations with high-performance natural actives so that formulators can implement this concept with technical rigour and differentiate their portfolio.

The ACA Method in Hair Formulation
The ACA method — Conditioner, Shampoo, Conditioner — proposes reversing the classic washing order by incorporating a pre-conditioner before the shampoo.
This sequence protects the cuticle during cleansing, reduces moisture loss and facilitates styling, with results particularly relevant for dry, curly or damaged hair.
Why the Order of Washing Matters
Conventional shampoo removes sebum and impurities, but can also remove structural lipids from the hair fibre if there is no prior protective barrier.
Applying a conditioner before washing forms a protective layer that limits this damage, preserves natural hydration and improves the hair's response to the subsequent conditioner.
Why does the ACA method redefine haircare in 2026?
Hair care is evolving towards phase-structured routines, inspired by multistep skincare. The scalp-first trend — which prioritises scalp health as the basis of healthy hair — and personalisation by hair fibre type are the two major currents that the ACA method synthesises. It is the technical response to the global movement towards science-based hair routines.
Cobiosa Actives for the ACA Method
The three reference formulations of the ACA method integrate functional actives with specific roles at each step of the routine.
Passionare Oil, Cobio AHA V2, Cobiobalance, Seboreductyl and Ethomega cover everything from pre-wash protection to the final repair and sealing of the hair fibre.
Passionare Oil and Cobio AHA V2: pre-shampoo
Passionare Oil is an upcycled passion fruit seed oil (INCI: Passiflora Edulis Seed Oil) that provides colour protection after washing, hydration and anti-frizz effect, used at 3% in the oil phase of the pre-conditioner.
Cobio AHA V2 combines alpha-hydroxy acids with hydrating agents to improve water retention and remove scalp impurities.
Cobiobalance, Seboreductyl and Ethomega
Cobiobalance, Yacón juice extract (INCI: Polymnia Sonchifolia Root Juice) at 5%, regulates pH, improves scalp health and reduces signs of skin stress.
Seboreductyl at 2% acts as a botanical sebum-regulating complex with astringent action. Ethomega, a blend of chia and sacha inchi oils at 1%, provides repair, immediate shine and nutrition.

Cobiosa Reference Formulations
Cobiosa proposes three complete protocols — PROT.48/25, PROT.149/25 and PROT.150/25 — covering each stage of the ACA method.
Each formulation is designed for a specific hair type and function, with detailed manufacturing processes and compatibility between phases of each product, facilitating industrial scale-up.
Pre-shampoo and sebum-balance shampoo
The Hydra-Conditioning Pre-Shampoo (PROT.48/25) prepares, nourishes and softens the fibre before washing, restoring hair vitality and facilitating subsequent styling.
The Sebobalance Wellness Shampoo (PROT.149/25) is formulated for oily hair and scalps prone to irritation, regulating sebum production and balancing the microbiota.
Final conditioner: Passiomega
The Passiomega Hair Conditioner (PROT.150/25) closes the ACA routine with a nourishing and repairing action based on high-efficacy vegetable oils.
It provides deep hydration without weighing down, improves hair fibre elasticity and leaves hair visibly softer, shinier and more manageable from the first application. Contact Cobiosa's technical team for the complete formulation protocols.
